Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse
Shift: 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM
Location: Salem, VA
Unit Overview:
Join a dynamic Emergency Department with a total of 27 beds and a dedicated team of 50 registered nurses and 25 medics. Our department operates with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 4-6:1 during peak hours, ensuring optimal care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality care to patients within a high-acuity emergency room setting.
- Manage emergency cases including, but not limited to, RSI, sepsis interventions, and stroke protocol administration (tPA).
- Perform critical procedures such as central line placements and care for psychiatric patients.
- Ensure adherence to EMTALA regulations for transfers to other facilities.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of healthcare professionals, contributing to a respectful and team-oriented atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- 2-3 years of ER nursing experience.
- Completion of 2-3 travel assignments.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications.
- Preferred:
- Experience in high-volume, fast-paced emergency departments.
- Knowledge of patient ratios of 5:1 and above.
- Additional certifications (TNCC, ENPC, NRP, NIHF) are desirable.

- No on-call requirements.
- Weekend shifts are required, totaling four weekend shifts in a four-week period (Friday or Saturday for nights; Saturday or Sunday for days).
